Animal rights activist and athlete, Josh Howell undertook the Tarawera Ultramarathon to raise awareness. He wanted to prove you can do amazing things, fueled entirely by plants. "I feel like I owe it [to the animals], to try and make up for how I used to consume them and not even think about it."
The 100-miler (165km) was Josh's biggest endurance challenge to date. Josh had spent the last year training for it.
After a 4am start, and 24.5 hours completing the course, Josh crossed the finish line. He placed sixth in his age group, and 22nd overall. He celebrated with a large pizza.
